PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically measure dimensions of a work, and to maintain the working accuracy in a next step.;SOLUTION: In a method for clamping a work by work clamps 23A-23D in a plate working machine having the plurality of work clamps 23A-23D in an individually movable manner in one direction, adjacent sides of the work W are abutted on an origin positioning member 12 and work clamps 25 of an adequate number in an origin positioned state, and another work clamp 23B adjacent to the work clamp 23A abutted on the work W is moved from the position apart from the work W in the direction closer to the work W.
