PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing γ-aminobutyric acid from glutamic acid by a high-temperature high-pressure water reaction.;SOLUTION: Gamma-aminobutyric acid is synthesized by the high-temperature high-pressure water reaction of glutamic acid (preferably at 280-300°C). The production efficiency of the γ-aminobutyric acid is remarkably improved by adding a substance capable of reacting with the amino group of glutamic acid to form a Schiff's base (e.g. pyruvic acid) before the reaction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
