PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion picture encoding/decoding apparatus and method using digital watermarking in which compressibility can be improved by inserting encoded information into a picture through digital watermarking when encoding the motion picture with a large amount of data, and which is compatible with a conventional motion picture encoding/decoding apparatus.;SOLUTION: The present invention includes a motion picture encoding apparatus for inserting encoded information of a first motion picture into a second motion picture in the format of a digital watermark and encoding the second motion picture through motion compensation, and a motion picture decoding apparatus for decoding the second motion picture by extracting the digital watermark from second motion picture encoded data transmitted from the motion picture encoding apparatus, and for decoding the first motion picture through motion compensation while utilizing the extracted digital watermark.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
