PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating sodium and potassium in a concentrated salt water economically, by a simple operation and efficiently and by which a high purity common salt can be obtained and the separated potassium can be easily reused.;SOLUTION: A perchloric acid and/or sodium perchlorate are added into the concentrated salt water and then, potassium is separated as the crystal of potassium perchlorate. The concentrated salt water containing a perchlorate after the crystal of potassium perchlorate is separated is heated to 50°C or higher and then the common salt is separated by crystallization.
