PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new protein deamidase that acts on a side-chain amido group in a protein and releases a side-chain carboxyl group and ammonia, a new microorganism producing the same, a gene encoding the same, and a method for producing the same, and its use.;SOLUTION: A method for producing an enzyme by culturing a bacterial strain that belongs to the order Cytophagales or the class Actinomycetes and has an ability of producing an enzyme having a property of deamidating an amido group in a protein, or a new bacterium Chryseobacterium sp. No.9670, producing the enzyme, followed by collecting the enzyme from the obtained culture, a method for modifying a protein using a new enzyme directly acting on an amido group in the protein, a gene encoding the same, a recombinant vector containing the gene, a transformant obtained by transducing the vector, and a method for obtaining a protein deamidase by culturing the transformant, followed by producing the protein deamidase, are provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
