PURPOSE: To provide a computer system capable of taking a docking state and an undock state. ;CONSTITUTION: The computer system 10 capable of docking includes a portable computer 20 and a docking station 22. Both the portable computer 20 and the docking station 22 include communication systems 32, 44 able to make communication of a message when the docking station is in an undock state prior to the docking state. The communication system is preferably an infrared ray communication system. A communication protocol to generate a preceding communication signal to warn an urgent docking.
