HEAT INSULATING LAYER-FORMING FIREPROOF COATING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fireproof coating having high strength of a heat insulating layer, scarcely causing cracking or peeling and forming the heat insulating layer having a uniform coating thickness.;SOLUTION: The fireproof coating comprises an inorganic foaming agent foaming at high temperatures and a carbonized material-forming agent and further an organic binder and an inorganic binder as a binder component. In the fireproof coating, a foamable silica gel is contained as the inorganic foaming agent and a self-film forming scaly silica is compounded as the inorganic binder. The fireproof coating produces hollow silica particles by foaming the silica gel when exposed to a flame. Thereby, the heat insulating layer is reinforced and the scaly silica imparts thixotropic properties to the coating without causing sagging during coating.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
