PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly fuse both end inner surfaces of heat-contractible tubing with a protected object, and improve peeling resistance at the ends, by providing a current- carrying heat generator for contracting the tubing and the current-carrying heat generator which fuses both end inner surfaces of the tubing with the protected object individually. ;SOLUTION: For example, gas pipe lines are connected each other, by removing a plastic coating layer from ends of a plastic coating steel pipe, by connecting and welding the ends, and then by coating the ends of the plastic coating layer with a heat-contractible tubing 1. The heat-contractible protective tubing 1 has a heat contraction part 11, and a current-carrying heat generator A is buried in the contraction part for length of the tubing 1. A thermoplastic layer 12 is integrated with the inner peripheral surface of the heat contraction part 11. A current-carrying heat generator B is buried between the thermoplastic layer 12 and the heat contraction part 11. During coating operation, the tubing 1 is contracted due to current-carrying heat generation of the current-carrying heat generator A, and then both end inner surfaces of the tube 1 are fused with the protected object due to current-carrying heat generation of the current-carrying heat generator B.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
