PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defect detection method and a defect detector for a buried pipe in a gas station capable of precisely easily specifying a defective point at a low cost with a saved space while having a detection precision capable of detecting a defect corresponding to an opening 0.3 mm or less in diameter in the buried pipe, and performing a leak inspection with an easy method and device, an auxiliary tool therefor, and a defect detection system.;SOLUTION: This method for detecting the defective point in the buried pipe buried in the ground within the site of the gas station comprises successively and continuously measuring the ground surface potential difference at predetermined intervals by a pair of electrodes while intermittently carrying a current to the buried pipe.
