PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an active carbon composition and to provide a method for decoloring a liquid material using the same which hardly generate dust, and have good workability and excellent decoloring performance. PSOLUTION: The active carbon composition is characterized in covering the active carbon and a cellulose with chitosan. Preferably, the active carbon and the cellulose are covered with chitosan by depositing chitosan from a chitosan solution in the presence of the active carbon and the cellulose, wherein 1 to 30 pts.wt. of the cellulose and 0.1 to 15 pts.wt. of chitosan are contained in 100 pts.wt. of the active carbon.
