Side from the finite element division model, aspect, a method and its apparatus for extracting the elements

PURPOSE: To provide a method/device which can extract the sides, surfaces and elements of a finite element division model of a large scale, can faithfully display the contours, and also can fast extract the element that contains an optional point of the model. ;CONSTITUTION: When the elements and the nodes which form these elements are stored corresponding to each other, a side, a surface or an element is defined as a segment and this segment is extracted out of a finite element division model. In such a case, the index value that characterizes a combination of nodes forming a segment is given to every segment. Then a segment list (a) where the information on the segments having the same index value are continuously arrayed is produced together with an index table (b) where the index value are related with the positions set on the segment list. Thus the segments having the same index value are extracted based on the list (a) and the table (b), and the node information are acquired.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
