PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce any operation load by a user, and to accurately prevent erroneous setting by obtaining resource management information to be set from a managing device which operates the unitary management of resource management information, and setting the operational environment each time a power is supplied. SOLUTION: A printer control unit 1501 being a peripheral controller controls a printer 1500 as peripheral equipment for operating prescribed input and output processing while communicating with a host computer 3000 being a data processor through an LAN 21 as a prescribed communicating medium. When a power is supplied, the control unit 1501 retrieves the computer 3000 through the LAN 21 according to a control program stored in an ROM 13 and an outside memory 14, and captures resource management information. Then, the control unit 1501 executes the control program based on the obtained resource management information for setting the operational environment of the printer 1500. Then, the origin of capture information for identifying the computer 3000 which captures the resource management information is maintained by an outside memory 14 and an RAM 19 as a maintaining means.
