The present invention relates to a method for increasing fish catch in the ocean which is to fertilize the ocean surface, create a short-term phytoplankton fluorescence which forms an attractive fish device (FAD). The FAD lures the fish to a place planned for fishing boats to catch with reduced fishing effort. Flowering can be created by the short-term addition of a chelated iron fertilizer to the ocean surface and can last from about 1 to about 2 months.
