In the present invention, there is disclosed an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding a chimeric TIE-2 ligand comprising at least a portion of a first TIE-2 ligand and a portion of a second TIE-2 ligand which is different from the first, wherein the first and second TIE-2 ligands are selected from TIE-2 ligand 1, TIE-2 ligand 2, TIE-2 ligand 3 and TIE-2 ligand 4, which molecule is useful for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions intended for the treatment of individuals suffering from cell, tissue or organ disorders and expressing TIE-2 receptor, as well as for diagnostic purposes.
