The use of phanquinone for the manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and pharmaceutical composition comprising phanquinone and a compound or a mixture of compounds selected from antioxidants, acetylcholine enhancers and prosthetic groups. The pharmaceutical composition may also comprise clioquinol as another active ingredient.
