A control unit is used to generate a pulsed turbulent flow in the cooling battery by repeatedly opening the valve unit to let in cold coolant and closing the valve unit. The control unit activates the valve unit opening/closing sequence when a thermostat unit detects that a desired temperature level in the refrigeration or freezer unit has been reached. The thermostat unit is located close to the flow of air from the cooling battery in order to give better temperature measurements and maintain a more constant and stable temperature inside the refrigeration or freezer unit.
