The method involves separately cutting rectangular metal and plastics sheets (1,2) and forming corner recesses (1.2,2.4) to the sheets. The sheets are superimposed and mutually secured to each other with adhesives, in which the sheet ends are coupled to each other before the sheets are shaped into a tube. The metal sheet top edge is rounded towards the plastics sheet top edge, to form a small flange (1.3). The lower lip of the metal sheet is inserted into a peripheral internal step formed to a bottom piece. The internal step is fixed around the lower lip. An independent claim is also included for a multilayer cylindrical container.
