The method involves folding a folded side piece (23) of a metal sheet i.e. auto body sheet (20), around an edge (24) of another metal sheet i.e. auto body sheet (21), where the folded side piece is formed with a flange edge (22). Heat of about material-specific deformation temperature is directly applied on the flange edge by a laser device (30) before a roll folding process, where the laser device is locally located in a region of the flange edge. Folding radius of a folded tab is controlled based on the quantity of heat applied by the laser device. An independent claim is also included for a roll folding device.
