An aqueous liquid detergent composition of mild action comprising: from 5% to 70% by weight of a surfactant system comprising at least 10%, by weight of a branched surfactant mixture, wherein said mixture of branched surfactants branched surfactant compounds mid chain and linear, comprising said linear compounds less than 25% by weight of the branched surfactant mixture having said branched compounds mid-chain formula: Ab - B wherein: Ab is a branched alkyl moiety mid hydrophobic chain with C9 to C18, total carbons in the moiety having: (1) a longest linear chain of carbon linked more to the - B in the range of 8 to 17 carbon atoms; C1 (2) one or more residues - C3 branching from the longest linear chain of carbon more; (3) at least one of the alkyl moieties branching is bonded directly to a carbon of the longest chain of carbon linear in a position estáen interval carbon position 3 counting from carbon # 1 which is attached to -B moiety, to position carbon - 2, the terminal carbon minus 2 carbons; and (4) the surfactant composition has an average total number of carbon atoms in the Ab moiety in the above formula within the range of more than 12 to 14, 5 and B is a hydrophilic moiety selected from the group consisting of -OSO 3 M, ( EO / PO) mOSO3M, (EO / PO) mOH and mixtures thereof, wherein EO / PO are alkoxy moieties selected from the group consisting of ethoxy, propoxy, and mixtures thereof, m is at least 0, 01-30 ; the liquid detergent composition comprising 1 to 10% by weight of a nonionic surfactant component comprising surfactants selected from the group consisting of polyhydroxy C8-C18 fatty acid, ethoxylated alcohols C8 - C18 and combinations thereof.
