SHAPED-BEAM OR SCANNED BEAMS REFLECTOR OR LENS ANTENNA

Multiple shaped-beam or scanned beams reflector orlens antenna configured so as to have the radiatingelements outside the focal plane (imaging) with improvedcharacteristics in terms of gain and coverage area. Saidantenna (Fig. 1) essentially consists of a reflector or alens (1), a certain number of radiators (3) positionedoutside the focal plane, a Beam Forming Network (BFN). Itclassifies in the technical field of multiple shaped-beamantennae and is applicable to radars, telecommunicationsin general and to space telecommunications in particular.Its most significant advantage consists in its use astransmitter antenna since in it the electricperformance/complexity ratio is improved.
