SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF MEASURING AND EVALUATING PERFORMANCE OF A PHYSICAL SKILL AND EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM THE PHYSICAL SKILL

Systems and methods are provided for processing an individual performance datamodel of a person, such as a student, performing a physical skill or task. Theindividual performance data model is derived from an elite or superiorperformance data model determined from a number of elite or superiorperformances of the skill or task. In particular, the elite or superiorperformance model is sized or scaled to the student's body dimensions toproduce a customized individual performance data model of the student's idealor superior performance of the skill. The individual performance data model isused in teaching processes to identify and correct the student's performanceerrors. Embodiments of the invention modify the individual performance datamodel of the student to incorporate significant body movement trends exhibitedby elite or superior performers that are related to body segment size. Furtherembodiments of the invention modify the individual performance data model forevaluating and scoring the student's actual performance of the skill, and forevaluating and fitting equipment the student uses to perform the skill. Inparticular, embodiments of the invention seek to alleviate the technicalproblem of how to process video data streams captured of the student's actualperformance of the skill to automate the identification of errors in thestudent's performance, to automate the corrective action the student must taketo improve his/her performance and/or to avoid such errors, and toautomatically assess the suitability and performance of equipment the studentuses to perform the skill.
