The invention relates to life's necessities, more particularly to cosmetics, hygiene and dermatology. The invention more specifically relates to a novel active cosmetic ingredient, a hydrogenated Monoi derivative, preferably from Tahiti, known as Monoi butter, having improved texture and a moisturizing, protecting, satinizing, smoothing and softening effect. The invention also relates to the use of Monoi butter, more generally copra butter, in cosmetic and/or dermatological compositions, optionally in association with or mixed with one or several appropriate vehicles or excipients. The invention can be used in cosmetics or in dermatology in order to produce compositions having improved application properties.
