METHOD OF TESTING DRUG FOR TREATING OR PREVENTING DISEASES SUCH AS HYPERLIPEMIA

It is intended to provide a novel method of testing a therapeutic or preventive agent for at least one disease selected from among hyperlipemia, arteriosclerosis and hyperglycemia. More specifically, a method is provided which comprises culturing cells in the presence or absence of a test substance, detecting mRNA expression level, promoter activity or protein production level of an "angiopoetin-related protein 3 or 4" gene, and thus selecting a test substance that decreases mRNA expression levels, promoter activity or protein production levels thus detected in cells cultured in the presence thereof compared with cells cultured in the absence thereof.
