PURPOSE: A method for controlling lighting of a fuel warning light of a vehicle is provided to control lighting of the fuel warning light on the basis of the exact remaining amount of fuel of a fuel tank and to control lighting of the fuel warning light while exactly reflecting the real fuel conditions when fuel is used excessively. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling lighting of a fuel warning light of a vehicle comprises steps of displaying a fullness state by the fuel warning light by deciding the initial fullness amount of fuel on the basis of a signal received from a fuel sensor when a fuel gauge is in an F-state and transmitting the signal to a fuel warning light display part(S10); calculating the theoretical fuel consumption on the basis of gauge damping time(S20); receiving the engine fuel consumption of an engine(S30); comparing the theoretical fuel consumption with the engine fuel consumption(S40); directing the fuel gauge on the basis of the theoretical fuel consumption if the theoretical fuel consumption is grater than the engine fuel consumption and directing the fuel gauge on the basis of the engine fuel consumption if the theoretical fuel consumption is smaller than the engine fuel consumption(S50,S52); measuring the current angle of the directed fuel gauge and comparing the measured current angle with a predetermined fuel warning light lighting angle(S60); and lighting the fuel warning light if the fuel gauge angle is lower than the fuel warning light lighting angle and returning to the third step if the fuel warning light lighting angle is lower than the fuel gauge angle(S70).
