PURPOSE: Provided is a pharmaceutical composition comprising gelastatin or its derivatives which has anti-inflammatory activity and it thus used for prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases. The gelastatin or its derivatives strongly inhibit the generation of TNF-alpha induced by LPS, and thus are useful as pharmaceutical composition for prevention and treatment of inflammatory disease. CONSTITUTION: The pharmaceutical composition for prevention and treatment of inflammatory disease is characterized by containing, as active ingredient, gelastatin of the formula(1) or gelastatinhydroxamate of the formula(2) as its derivative. The gelastatin or gelastatinhydroxamate inhibit the generation of TNF-alpha induced by LPS.
