Purpose: a underwater propulsion unit and method are arranged to acquisition thrust using a check (non-return) valve and directly generate water flow by the exchange in the period of a power supply, energy loss are minimized, when generating water flow. Construction: in a underwater propulsion unit, a check (non-return) valve is coupled to an entrance of a hollow pipe (1), has an elliptical section. Four hinges (3) are radially placed in check (non-return) valve, are respectively connected to lid (2). Multiple protrusions (4) are formed in check (non-return) valve, and the rotation limitation for limiting lid prevents the convection type of water by hollow pipe.
