METHOD, DEVICE, AND PROGRAM FOR EXECUTING BOOTING, MAINTAINING, OR INSTALLING OPERATION ON SAN USING SAN FABRIC

PURPOSE: A method, a device, and a program for executing a booting, maintaining, or installing operation on the SAN(Storage Area Network) using a SAN fabric are provided to easily change a boot device without changing an address within a firmware of the device. CONSTITUTION: A SAN data processing system includes the SAN fabric(102), multiple devices(104-108) connected to the SAN fabric, multiple storage devices such as a disk array(112), a disk drive(114), a tape drive(116), and an optical drive(118) connected to the SAN fabric, and a SAN BOSboot/BOSinstall(Basic Operation System) device(120) connected to the SAN fabric. The SAN BOSboot/BOSinstall device receives/discriminates an inquiry from the device and returns a device list to the specified device based on an inquiry type. The device list discriminates a device set.
