DRIVING TIME CONTROL DEVICE AND METHOD OF ENGINE STARTER MOTOR FOR MINIMIZING OVERRUN TIME OF ENGINE STARTER MOTOR

PURPOSE: A driving time control device and a method of an engine starter motor is provided to improve durability of the starter motor and to prevent breakage of the starter motor and a fire of a vehicle caused by excessive overrun of the starter motor. CONSTITUTION: A driving time control device of an engine starter motor(20) comprises a starting relay(RY) driving the starter motor by supplying the power of a battery to the starter motor while being turned on by operation of a key switch(SW), and a controller(10) stopping the starter motor by turning off the starting relay if an engine satisfies a self-start condition. The controller decides the self-start condition is satisfied if engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute) is over predetermined RPM and the voltage of the battery is over predetermined voltage.
