PURPOSE: A flat panel display and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to reduce the thickness of the display, by forming an air exhaust port at a glass substrate rather than using a tip. CONSTITUTION: A flat panel display an upper plate transparent electrode formed on an upper inner glass and made of an ITO(indium tin oxide) or an ATO(antimony tin oxide) material; a lower plate transparent electrode(220) formed beneath a lower inner glass(230); a phosphor deposited in a discharge hole(240) formed at an upper surface of the lower inner glass; an air exhaust port(260) penetrating through the upper inner glass or the lower inner glass such that the air exhaust port is communicated to the space formed between the upper inner glass and the lower inner glass; and a plurality of space bars(250) arranged beneath the upper inner glass or at the portion of the upper surface of the lower inner glass where the discharge hole is not formed. The space bars are made of a dielectric material, and prevent the upper inner glass and the lower inner glass from tightly contacting with each other.
