PURPOSE: A glass composition is provided to secure strong thermal stability glass desirable for substrates for FPD and have a low devitrification temperature without actual BaO by containing an optimal rate of SiO2, B2O3, Al2O3, MgO, CaO, SrO, K2O, SnO2 and Fe2O3. ;CONSTITUTION: The glass composition includes SiO2 54-62 mass %, B2O3 4-11 mass %, Al2O3 15-20 mass %, MgO 2-5 mass %, CaO 0-7 mass %, SrO 0-13.5 mass %, K2O 0-1 mass %, SnO2 0-1 mass %, and Fe2O3 0-0.2 mass %. The glass composition actually does not include BaO. A total of an inclusion rate of an alkali earth metal oxide(MgO+CaO+SrO) is 10-18.5 mass % and the devitrification temperature is below 1200C. The manufacturing method of glass substrates for a flat panel display molds a melting body of the glass composition with the down-draw right method and obtains glass substrates for the flat panel display.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
