PURPOSE: A multiple wavelength optical source is provided to simplify a design and to reduce a manufacturing cost by excluding an external modulator. CONSTITUTION: A multiple wavelength optical source includes a demultiplexer(120), a multiplexer(110), a plurality of semiconductor optical amplifiers(150), and a plurality of optical intensity separators(160). The demultiplexer includes a first port on one end and a plurality of second ports on the other end to demultiplex a multiplexed optical signal received at the first port according to wavelengths, and outputs the demultiplexed lights to corresponding second ports. The multiplexer receives the demultiplexed lights at a plurality of third ports which corresponds the second ports respectively and multiplexes the lights to a multiplexed optical signal. The multiplexer outputs the multiplexed optical signal to a fourth port coupled with the first port. The semiconductor optical amplifiers amplify and output the demultiplexed lights outputted from the second port. The optical intensity separators separates a portion of the amplified light and outputs the result to the third port while outputting the rest of the light to outside.
