PURPOSE: A portable electronic device having a two-mode speaker is provided to selectively operate a speaker in different output modes by having resistance characteristics for ear speaker output and loud speaker output and to realize a slim speaker. CONSTITUTION: The first equivalent circuit(20) has a resistance value equivalent to a resistance value for first speaker output. The second equivalent circuit(30) is connected with the first equivalent circuit(20), and makes a whole resistance value including the first equivalent circuit(20) equivalent to a resistance value for second speaker output in a state of being connected with the first equivalent circuit(20). A switch selectively converts a mode into the first speaker output and the second speaker output by selectively applying a current between the first equivalent circuit(20) and the second equivalent circuit(30).
