PURPOSE: A drum-type washing machine and a control method thereof are provided to evenly wet the laundry by increasing water-injection rate into a rotary drum for small washing load and to prevent the laundry from getting tangled by increasing general water-supply rate in case that washing load is big. CONSTITUTION: A drum-type washing machine is composed of a water tank(10); a rotary drum(11) rotatively installed in the water tub and formed with a hole through which the water is inserted; a first water supply unit for feeding the water into the water tank; a second water supply unit for providing the water into the rotary drum; and a controller for regulating the mixture ratio of each supply amount of the water of the first and second water supply units according to washing load when the water fed from both the first and second water supply units is mixed.
