PURPOSE: A method of making a functional food product containing liquid or powder containing of Hovenia dulcis Thunb., Lindera obtusiloba Blume, licorice root, Polyporus umbellatus(Pers.) Fries and corn silk. The product can be used for reducing body weight and inhibiting cholesterol levels. CONSTITUTION: The functional composition for reducing body weight and cholesterol levels contains liquid or powder containing 70% by weight of Hovenia dulcis Thunb., 25% by weight of seeds of Hovenia dulcis Thunb., 10% by weight of Lindera obtusiloba Blume, 7% by weight of tea leaves, 3% by weight of licorice root, 2.5% by weight of Polyporus umbellatus(Pers.) Fries and 2% by weight of corn silk.
