PURPOSE: An external memory device connectable to a cellular phone and a personal computer is provided to be equipped with both USB host function and slave function in the one external memory device, and to store data in connection with a cellular phone as well as a PC, thereby newly editing or reusing various contents downloaded through the cellular phone on the PC. CONSTITUTION: A host/slave selector(11) selects whether to perform a USB host function or a USB slave function. A cellular phone/USB interface(12) connects to a data connector of a cellular phone and a USB connector of a PC. A flash memory(15) stores data transmitted from the cellular phone or the PC. An RAM(14) stores temporary data for constructing a self file system. A power supplier(16) receives power from a USB host while receiving power from a power terminal of the cellular phone, and provides the received power to each unit. A USB controller(13) embeds a control chipset therein, stores the data in the flash memory(15), and controls a send/receive of data with the cellular phone or the PC.
