UPGRADING METHOD FOR HOME NETWORK SYSTEM BASED UNIVERSAL PLUG AND PLAY

PURPOSE: A method for upgrading a UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) home network system is provided to automatically upgrade an application for a UPnP device on the UPnP home network by using the Internet. CONSTITUTION: A control point extracts a device ID from a received XML(eXtensible Markup Language) device description. The control point confirms the necessity for the update by transmitting the device ID to an upgrade server through the Internet. If the upgrade is needed, the control point informs a user of the necessity for the upgrade through a user interface. If the user allows the upgrade, the control point downloads an upgrade object file to a storing space from the upgrade server(S610). If the download of the upgrade object file is completed, the corresponding device is upgraded(S630). If the upgrade is terminated, the termination of the upgrade is informed to the control point by using an event message(S650).
