The present invention relates to a sulfonic acid-containing polyaryletherbenzimidazole electrolyte for a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) and an electrolyte composite membrane using the same, and more particularly, to a sulfonic acid-containing poly having excellent properties such as heat resistance, mechanical properties, and solubility. A novel polymer electrolyte comprising aryletherbenzimidazole and a repeating unit of the polymer electrolyte and the above-described polymer electrolyte coated on a support, which significantly reduces ion conductivity and methanol permeability, and thus is useful as an electrolyte membrane of a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC).
