PURPOSE: A polymer electrolyte film for a direct methanol fuel cell is provided to efficiently suppress a crossover of a methanol and to selectively transmit water. CONSTITUTION: A polymer electrolyte film for a direct methanol fuel cell, which is to be inserted between the anode and the cathode, includes an ion conductive polymer electrolyte film. A plurality of microporous lamellar silicate particles the pore size of which is larger than that of a water molecule and smaller than that of a methanol molecule is laminated on the surface of the ion conductive polymer electrolyte film. The pore size of the microporous lamellar silicate particle is 1-20 . The thickness of the laminated microporous lamellar silicate particle is 50 nm to 4 mm.
