The evacuation unit comprises an unending band which has two belts: a load belt (1) and an empty belt (2). The band is made from a material which is processed with rubber strips and has a tubular material shell (3). The belt is fixed to collapsible steps (4) and on the lower end of the belt is a driving roller (5) which has brakes and on the upper end of the belt is a gripping roller (6) that fits to the roof of a building (7). The belts and steps are positioned for the use of people to evacuate a building.
