Calibration method for a rail measuring installation for measuring the force between a wheel or a wheel set and the rail top has the following steps: a wheel or wheel set of known characteristics is driven over the measurement length of the installation; a difference between maximum and minimum applied load is measured and; a calibration factor is calculated from the ratio of the difference value and the known wheel or wheel set load.
