A solid-state electrolyte for a high-temperature fuel cell comprises a yttrium or scandium oxide stabilized zirconium oxide layer on a cathode substrate (1). The layer (10) comprises a mixed phase additive of boron and manganese(IV) oxide in at least a part of the layer. An independent claim is also included for a production process for the above.
