Function checking method for temperature sensor associated with automobile component using comparison of temperature values provided by temperature sensor and by second temperature measuring device

The function checking method determines the temperature value provided by the temperature sensor upon starting of the automobile engine, for comparison with the temperature value provided by a second temperature measuring device, positioned in the vehicle so that it provides a similar temperature to the temperature value provided by the temperature sensor upon starting of the engine. The difference between the compared temperatures is compared with a maximal value and the temperature sensor temperature value is additionally compared with the temperature value provided by the temperature sensor upon prior cut-out of the engine, for provision of a fault indication.
