A human or animal artificial bone or cartilage joint substitute production procedure uses infrared light or computer or magnetic resonance tomography to record a cloud of three dimensional points to create virtual three dimensional computer model of fully grown joints that are vulnerable to later damage. Independent claims are included for a joint made using the procedure and for the production of models using rapid prototyping moulding techniques.
