The support device (1) has a standing plate provided by the base of a mesh plant basket (2) having a maximum outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of the plant pot receiving the pot plant, with vertical support rods (5) for the plant fitted in holders (4) attached to mantle of the plant basket. The support rod holders can be provided at the ends of strengtheners (3) for the plant basket. An independent claim for a method for potting and re-potting of a pot plant using a pot plant support device is also included.
