The freewheel brake device has a rotatably mounted shaft (5) to which is coupled a freewheel brake unit (15) which has a brake with a non-rotatable first friction brake element and a second friction brake element coupled to the shaft and rotatable in relation to the first brake element. A freewheel (25) is installed between the shaft and the brake and in a first movement direction (27) of the shaft connects the second friction brake element to the shaft in a torsionally fixed manner, and in the second movement direction (26) releases it.
