Wideband noise source detection method for DC distribution network e.g. for arcing detection in automobile onboard network, using frequency filtering and analysis of network signal

The noise source detection method has the signal (9) from the DC distribution network (10) fed to a variable bandpass filter (6), the middle frequency of which is adjusted via a microprocessor (2) within a given frequency range, with evaluation of the spectral amplitude of the filtered signal for different frequencies by the microprocessor, for identification of a wideband noise source (11). An independent claim for a device for detection of a wideband noise source in a DC distribution network is also included.
