Method for pressing rotationally symmetric metal components with surface profiles via several press operations with protection for the pressed profiles

A method for pressing rotationally symmetric metal components, e.g. pump rotors, has the base cylinder pressed with small surface profiles (5) before pressing into the final shape. Several press operations are used with the small profiles protected in each operation by shaped clamping elements which cover the small profiles. This ensures that the small profiles remain undistorted in the final component. The small profiles can be dimples, slits and other features, e.g. for subsequent fitting of other components such as pump vanes.
