A low-friction small smooth layer for applying to the base of a computer mouse is made of a technical ceramic material e.g. aluminum oxide-ceramic, having a high scratch- and wear-resistance, and having a friction-reducing, very smooth surface, and has a concavely curved surface relative to the mouse underlay, so as to reduce the support point and friction and is glued on to the bottom face of the computer mouse in place of the original smooth layer which can be dissolved away.
