The gear has a horizontal steering fork with connecting pieces at its lateral ends. Two oblong rigid steering rods (20) are connected with respective ends of the fork through the pieces, where each end of the rod has a handle. The fork is turned by moving the rods in the driving direction, so that the fork is steered to left and right directions, respectively. An adjusting mechanism is provided for adjusting the length of the bars. An independent claim is also included for a motor carriage comprising a steering gear.
