The device has a yoke joint (10) that is rigidly fixed to a steering gearbox (4) of a motor vehicle. The joint includes two parallel flanges (12, 13) that extend in a radial direction of the gearbox. An adjusting system is mounted on the joint by a fixation screw that crosses bores (14) of the flanges. The joint is extended with respect to the gearbox by a plane support clamp, where the clamp extends in a plane parallel to a longitudinal axis (A) of the gearbox.
